Kids Storage Bins
Do you have kids? Is their stuff strewn everywhere in every room in your house? Do you feel like you live in a day care center?
You need to purchase some kids storage bins.
If your kids are like most kids, they have way too much stuff and no place to put it. You have to be creative when it comes to storage that is kid friendly.
Plastic containers are a God send when it comes to kids and storage. You can find deep ones and shallow ones, small ones for crayons and chalk, gallon ones to hold all the Lego pieces. They come in all colors and color combinations and can be stacked one on top of the other and hidden away in a closet.
You can place a set of bookshelves up against a wall in your living room and fill each shelf with plastic boxes or baskets to hold your kids toys. The same idea can be used in a child’s room to hold underwear, socks, shirts, pants, shoes. You can purchase or build a set of cubbies to hold books or stuffed animals, puzzles, or dolls.
There are three tier storage racks with plastic containers on each tier. These come in many different styles and are usually multi colored to fit into any décor.
Some children prefer the stackable storage units that are designed to look like a tower when stacked one on top of the other. Mothers like storage bins that have wheels so that the kids can move the toys from one room to the other and have the bin available when it is time to clean up the area.
As you consider what kind of storage bins you need, the amount of toys and things will be doubling. Maybe you should consider the folding bins that have wheels. That way you can wheel the bin filled with toys into the room; dump it out; and then stack the bins in the corner till it’s time to pick things up.
Let’s go over what we have found to use so far: different colored, sized and shapes of heavy plastic containers that can be stacked; big wire baskets to hold things like balls and stuffed animals; big trash cans with lids; big plastic buckets; fabric baskets that fold up when empty; wicker baskets that look nice in the living room; wooden toy boxes; shelves with bins. That is a lot to choose from, isn’t it? Let’s don’t forget about shelves. You can turn shelves into bins just by adding boxes. You can even use colorful suitcases for bins.
Yes, it is frustrating trying to get your kids to put up their “stuff” but you can make it more fun by getting them special containers to put the stuff in. It is never too early to teach a child that “what comes out; has to go up”. Children need to learn boundaries and it is easy to teach them these boundaries when you can say “you can get another bin of toys after you put this bin back up”.
